Dit was wel een van de meest wisselvallige (of noem het gevarieerde) weken tot nut toe. Van bizar slecht cq “niks voor mij” (Roni Size en Scissor Sisters” en in iets mindere mate Massive Attack naar twee van de grootse monumenten uit de popmuziek. Pink Floyd en John Lennon. Met Adele en Dusty Springfield een paar prima middenmoters die de week compleet maken.

Van John Lennon zag ik dit jaar nog de documentaire “One to One (John & Yoko). Een aardig document over de periode dat hij in New York woont samen met Yoko en toewerkt naar het One to One liefdadigheidsconcert. Hier een opname van dat concert van (natuurlijk) het iconische “Imagine”
Door naar het fabuleuze Pink Floyd album Wish you were here. Dit schreef ik bij het album in mijn 1001 album project.
Dag 72: Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here
I have been listening to WYWH since I was 14 or 15, and like with Dark Side, I can dream every second of it. I remember biking 20km to school with my friend and singing "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year"—in fact, the whole song—and this is 35 years ago. This album is nestled in my brain, and I actually might not even have to put it on to relive it.
It is another masterpiece of classic Pink Floyd in their heyday. Of course their sound had changed over time, especially since Syd Barrett had to leave the band. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is about Syd, but he hardly responded to it when he made a visit to the studio during the recording sessions. A very tragic story, unfortunately. But this album is just perfect, nothing else to say about it as it has been said a thousand and more times by several generations of music lovers and critics. Obvious that this is in the book. 5/5
